What do the colours of the i3SYNC status indicators mean?

The i3SYNC receiver has two status LED indicators, on each side. Check below for their meaning.

i3SYNC FHD
A SOLID RED colour indicates that the i3SYNC receiver unit is properly connected to a power source, and is operating.

i3SYNC FHD
A NORMAL PULSING ORANGE colour indicates that the i3SYNC receiver unit is in standby mode, and ready to receive and display an HDMI video signal.
A QUICKLY PULSING ORANGE colour indicates that the i3SYNC receiver unit is in pairing mode. You can now pair all the desired i3SYNC transmitter units.
A SOLID ORANGE colour indicates that the i3SYNC receiver is receiving and displaying the HDMI video signal to your display device, if connected to an HDMI port.

The i3SYNC transmitter has a translucent ring with status LED indicators. Check below for all the possible colours and their meaning.

i3SYNC FHD
The SOLID ORANGE colour indicates that the battery power level of the i3SYNC transmitter is critical low. Please recharge the i3SYNC transmitter by a USB connection. The i3SYNC transmitter requires a minimum battery charge to transmit.

i3SYNC FHD
The SOLID RED colour indicates that the battery of the i3SYNC is charging by the USB connection. This indication stays as long as the i3SYNC transmitter is connected to any USB port.

i3SYNC FHD
The SOLID PURPLE colour indicates that the i3SYNC transmitter is starting its operating system. Please wait several seconds (15-20 seconds) until the purple colour changes, and the i3SYNC unit is ready for transmitting.

i3SYNC FHD
The SOLID BLUE colour indicates that the i3SYNC transmitter unit is ready for transmitting the HDMI signal. Please press the button to transmit to a paired i3SYNC receiver.

i3SYNC FHD
The PULSING BLUE colour indicates that this i3SYNC transmitter unit is currently transmitting an HDMI signal to an i3SYNC receiver. To end transmission, press the button again, or have another i3SYNC transmitter take over the connection.

i3SYNC FHD
The PULSING RED colour indicates a pairing error. This is not necessary an indication of failure, but most likely is a common indicator that you can’t transmit an HDMI signal. (for example: no HDMI signal is detected).

The status LED indicators of the i3SYNC receivers do not light. What could be the problem?

The problem probably is the USB power source. Please check if the USB cable is properly connected from a USB power source to the i3SYNC receiver.
Not all USB ports on display devices are designed to continuously provide a USB connection. Some display devices deactivate their USB ports when they do not expect them to be used.
In this case, please contact your i3 dealer for a 5V USB power adapter.

There is no USB port available at my display device to power the i3SYNC receiver. Where do I get the USB power?

The i3SYNC receiver requires a 5 volt power (USB) input at all times for operating; The receiver does not have an internal battery. When your display device has no USB ports, or no active USB ports, you can get a USB power converter to convert a 110V or 220V AC power to a 5V charging power to USB from your i3 dealer.

How do I pair the i3SYNC receiver and transmitter.

  • Turn off the i3SYNC transmitter by sliding the power switch to OFF. Make sure the battery power of the transmitter is not empty.
  • Connect the i3SYNC receiver to an HDMI input of a display device, and connect the delivered USB cable to an active USB port, or USB power adapter. The red LED status indicator will light when the i3SYNC receiver is powered on. Wait for the home screen of the i3SYNC.
  • Press and hold the pairing button on the i3SYNC receiver for 5 seconds. The i3SYNC will enter pairing mode, which is visible on the display.
  • To connect the i3SYNC transmitter to the receiver in pairing mode, press and hold the button of the transmitter, and switch the power button to ON. Keep the button pressed until a the status indicator of the transmitter is blue, and a new connection appears in the pairing menu on the display.

The i3SYNC does not display my screen. What do I do?

Please check the i3SYNC status indicator lights of both transmitter and receiver, and compare them to the images above.
If the i3SYNC transmitter displays a SOLID PURPLE status light, please wait 15-20 seconds until the i3SYNC transmitter has finished booting.
If the i3SYNC transmitter displays a PULSING RED status light, this indicates an error either in pairing or in HDMI transmission.

  • Please make sure the i3SYNC transmitter is connected to an active HDMI port of a video source (e.g. laptop).
  • Please make sure the i3SYNC receiver is connected to an HDMI port of a display device (e.g. display, projector).
  • Please check if the receiver gets a 5 volt power over USB, by checking the RED status indicator.
  • Make sure the HDMI port of your laptop is active, and the laptop is set to use a second display on either extended or duplicated mode (e.g. Windows key + P, or Macintosh display setup).
  • If the error came from a pairing malfunction, please try to pair the i3SYNC receiver again.
  • If the error indicated another error, switch off the transmitter, and back on after 20 seconds.

Also check if the proper video source is selected on the display device, or restart the display device.

What is the maximum range for the i3SYNC?

The range of the i3SYNC’s WiFi communication is, like all radio signals, very dependent on the environment. i3-Technologies advises the transmitter to be in a maximum proximity of 10 to 20 meters, but it has been tested to work over double this distance.

Universal WiFi advise is also applicable here. Radio signals can pass through wood or stone easily, but metal absorbs these signals. Avoid metal obstructions close to the receiver and transmitter. Also Bluetooth devices can often interfere with WiFi signals.

Can I use the i3SYNC to sync my phone?

Yes. When your phone is capable of sending out an HDMI signal, you can connect the i3SYNC transmitter to your phone and it will sync the HDMI signal. You’ll probably need an HDMI adapter to connect to an USB-C, or Apple’s Lightning, or micro-HDMI. Contact your i3 dealer for the i3SYNC adapter pack, containing the most common HDMI adapters.

Will the i3SYNC transmit sound?

Yes, the i3SYNC will convert any sound signal to a mono audio signal, and transmit it to your display device.

Can I display my screen on multiple display devices?

No, unless you incorporate an HDMI splitter, it is not possible to sync with multiple i3SYNC receivers at once. When you pair your i3SYNC transmitter with a second receiver, it will lose the previous connection with the first receiver to prevent radio interference. Any i3SYNC transmitter can be paired with any i3SYNC receiver, but only 1 connection per transmitter is possible.

What is the expected battery duration and charging time of the i3SYNC?

The charging time of the i3SYNC transmitter is about 2,5 hours, when using the i3SYNC Charge Station, or a 5V USB power adapter with 2A capable. The charging time will likely be longer when charging by a data USB port (e.g. Laptop). When the transmitter is fully charged, the battery duration is about 3 hours of transmitting. The i3SYNC receiver has no internal battery, and must be continuously fed with 5V USB power.

Will the i3SYNC stay paired when the i3SYNC is powered off?

Yes, all units will remain paired until the transmitter is paired with another receiver. Then the connection with a previous receiver is lost, and the new pairing becomes active.

Why is the list of paired units empty when I check in pairing mode?

The list of paired units in pairing mode of the i3SYNC receiver only displays the transmitter units you are currently trying to pair. It does not show the units previously paired. This is to avoid a confusing interface when having many pairings.
